Meditation Workshop - 15th & 16th July, 2006
By Martin Griffiths

On Friday 14th, July Jaya Pisavadia, Sally White and my brother Anthony Griffiths arrived from other parts of the country to help with the preparations and organization of the meditation workshop. Their participation continued until July, 16th.

The Global Village Peace Gathering was taking place in an open field set in magnificent Lincolnshire countryside. All the stalls were arranged around the perimeter of the site. It was a warm, sunny day with a breeze from the south. A beautiful spot was selected for our Samarpan Meditation stall, in the far corner of the site. Set at approximately 45 degrees to the site corner, the stall faced the gathering and could therefore emanate energy out across the whole site.

There was a very festive atmosphere at the gathering with small groups of people mingling cheerfully around all the colourful stalls or sitting peacefully in conversation in the open air. The meditation felt at home in this atmosphere. During the afternoon and the following day a number of people commented on how relaxed and calm they had felt in the vicinity of our stall.

The first meditation workshop took place on Saturday 15th between 2.00pm and 4.00pm. There were around twenty five people taking part, many of whom were newcomers to meditation. Following the meditation, Mick (Bhikhu) Mistry from Leicester, answered some questions and gave a detailed talk about the meditation and his experience of it.

Others who had contributed to the collectivity of the event were Jaya Pisavadia and Lila Pabari, London; Liz Jardine, Cardiff; Aruna Mistry, Bharat & Rashmi Patel, Leicester; Sally White and Anthony Griffiths, Walton, near Glastonbury; and Rosemary Robinson and Liz Griffiths my wife, Lincoln. During the afternoon we were joined by Sadhaks from the Leicester centre who contributed to the collectivity, energy and enjoyment of the afternoon. The Leicester Sadhaks brought food along and we had a wonderful picnic in the shade of some nearby trees and Aruna, who had prepared the food, also brought along some Saris, Bangles and other items which were sold to raise funds for Samarpan.

As the meditation had been so well received we returned to the peace gathering site the following day and held two further meditations at 12noon and 2.00pm. Ten to fifteen people attended the first and between ten and fifteen attended the second session. Particularly strong energy was experienced at the last meditation and we all felt so grateful to Swamiji for having given us such a beautiful opportunity to experience, share and introduce Samarpan Meditation to new people.

Jai Baba Swami,
Martin Griffiths, Lincoln Centre, U.K.
